Step into the fascinating story of zoos-past, present, and future. In this program, we'll explore how zoos began, how they've evolved over time, and why modern zoos look so different today. Together, we'll uncover the important role accredited zoos play in animal welfare, conservation, research and education. Suitable for 10 and older.

Winter Sowing of Native Plants. Now is the time to start native plant seeds. Many native seeds need to be outdoors through the winter to germinate. This method is inexpensive, increases plant success, and gives you a head start on the growing season. We'll send you home with a variety of native perennial flower seeds. If you bring a clear plastic tote with you to the workshop, we will drill the holes needed to turn it into a mini-greenhouse. If you prefer, you can do all your growing in empty translucent milk jugs for mini-mini-greenhouses. We'll learn about the importance of native plants and choosing plant species. Participants will not do any planting at the workshop but will be well prepared with knowledge and SEEDS. Supplies to bring to workshop: clear plastic tote with clear lid-bring to the workshop for drilling. The tote should be at least 9in tall or more. Supplies to collect but leave at home: planting containers- small pots, reused solo cups, empty yogurt tubs, anything about 3-5in deep and potting soil.

This Annual Celebration was formerly known as the Annual Gala and this year we are changing the name to reflect the celebration of the new year...where we were and where we are going.

Meet and greet other business owners, while enjoying the night with food, drinks, music and of course dancing and games (to reflect the theme).

This year, the theme is Sock Hop. Where you can dress up (this is optional) in poodle skirts, enjoy games like a hula hoop competition and enjoy drinks and food that will also reflect the theme of Sock Hop.

Just because its winter time doesn't mean you can plant!  This workshop will focus on preparing a mini greenhouse for native plants to begin growing during the winter.  Once spring hits, they will be ready to plant in the ground!  Each participant will use a clean one gallon milk jug and alter it to serve as a mini greenhouse.  Then, the appropriate dirt and substrate will be added and, finally, local, native pollinator plant seeds.  

All materials are provided for this workshop, we are collecting one gallon jugs to help us sow our own butterfly garden here at the nature center, if you have additionals to donate, we will gladly accept them!

No experience or prior knowledge is required to attend, bring your curiosity and we will teach you the rest!

ArtLink can provide a crochet hook, and we can also provide yarn if needed, but quantities and colors are limited. If you prefer, you are welcome to bring your own crochet hook. Please bring your own medium-weight (worsted) yarn if you are able. Solid-colored yarns are preferred to help you clearly see your stitches as you learn.

KaleidoKids is an inclusive, supportive program designed for children with autism, special needs, and other disabilities. This January, we’re excited to offer the program at no cost, giving families a chance to connect, play, and explore together in a welcoming environment.

Puzzle Party – January 26

Each session features adaptive activities that encourage creativity, sensory engagement, social interaction, and fun, all at a pace that supports every child’s unique needs. Registration is still required so we can ensure adequate materials and support for each participant.

We are putting those old discarded Christmas Trees to good use with this DIY Workshop!  Adults are invited to come and learn how to assemble a wreath from a variety of pine branches.  All materials will be provided, feel free to bring extras to decorate and personalize!  Coffee and tea will be served.
